Gait scored the game-winning goal off a feed from attackman Casey Powell in the extra session ...Gait was one of two players to score a hat trick in the win as attackman Terry Riordan also scored three goals with an assist in the win for Long Island ... Rochester attackman Ryan Powell led the Rattlers in a losing effort with a game-high four goals while M Cory Kahoun scored three goals with an assist ... Long Island goalkeeper Sal LoCascio earned the win for the Lizards by making 15 saves, while Rochester goalkeeper Brian Dougherty made 10 saves in a losing effort ... The Lizards rebounded from a one-goal deficit at the end of the third quarter by scoring the last three goals of regulation, including a Riordan goal with 1:18 remaining in regulation ... It was the first postseason game in MLL history.

Long Island’s Stephen Sombrotto scored two goals and added three assists to help in the win ... Attackman David Curry scored two goals, including a two-pointer, to go with an assist for the Pride in the loss ... Goalkeeper Brian Carcaterra made 15 saves in the win for the Lizards, while goalkeeper Steve Koudelka stopped 14 shots in a losing effort for the Pride, who were making their first-ever MLL postseason appearance.
2002 SEMIFINAL – BALTIMORE 15, BOSTON 10: Baltimore goalkeeper Greg Cattrano set a league postseason record with 23 saves as the Bayhawks advanced to the MLL Championship Game for the second straight year with a 15-10 win over the Boston Cannons at Ravens Stadium ... Cattrano made 14 of his 23 saves in the second half as the Bayhawks exploded for 12 goals in the first half and never trailed in the game ... Nine different players scored in the win for Baltimore, including five players with two goals each ... Midfielder Paul Cantabene led the offense with two goals and an assist, while also winning 14 of 24 face-offs for Baltimore ... 2002 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – BALTIMORE 21, LONG ISLAND 13: Baltimore attackman Mark Millon scored five goals and added two assists as the Bayhawks won their first MLL title with a convincing 21-13 win over the Long Island Lizards in a rematch of the 2001 MLL Championship Game at Crew Stadium ... Millon, who was named the Bud Light MVP, recovered from his one-goal, one-assist performance in a semifinal win over Boston with five goals on just six shots ... Attackman John Blatchley scored one goal and added a postseason-record five assists for the Bayhawks ... Midfielder Gary Gait scored two goals and added four assists for Baltimore ... Midfielder Casey Powell scored one goal with four assists in a losing effort for the Lizards, who had swept the regular season series against Baltimore ... 2007 SEMIFINAL – PHILADELPHIA 13, DENVER 12 (OT): Midfielder Roy Colsey scored the game-winning goal just 51 seconds into overtime to lead the defending MLL champion Philadelphia Barrage to a 13-12 come-from-behind victory over the Denver Outlaws in the semi-finals at PAETEC Park … Colsey, who was named as the Bud Light MVP, scored his fourth goal of the game with an unassisted marker to give Philadelphia its fifth straight postseason victory … The Barrage overcame a three-goal deficit at the start of the fourth quarter to earn the win …
Midfielders Seth Goldberg and Matt Striebel added two goals with an assist for the Barrage while goalkeeper Brian Dougherty tallied 14 saves … Denver was led by Brendan Mundorf and Matt Brown, who each scored three goals with an assist.
2007 SEMIFINAL – LOS ANGELES 15, ROCHESTER 14: Attackman Chazz Woodson scored a game-high four goals to lead the Los Angeles Riptide to a 15-14 victory over the Rochester Rattlers in the second semi-final at PAETEC Park … With the win, the Riptide become the second Western Conference team to reach the MLL Championship Game …Woodson was named as the Bud Light MVP for his four-goal effort while attackman Terry Riordan and midfielder Graham Gill each added three goals … Midfielder Pat Dutton led Rochester with three goals in a losing effort while three other players each scored twice … Goalkeeper Mike Levin made 10 saves for the Rattlers, who remain winless in their postseason history.
2007 CHAMPIONSHIP – PHILADELPHIA 16, LOS ANGELES 13: Midfielder Matt Striebel scored three goals, including the eventual game-winning goal with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter, and added three assists as the Philadelphia Barrage became the first team in MLL history to win back-to-back championships with a 16-13 victory over the Los Angeles Riptide in the NB ZIP MLL Championship Game … With the victory, the Barrage became the first team in league history to win three league titles … Philadelphia also won the MLL title during the 2004 and 2006 seasons … Striebel was named as the Bud Light MVP after scoring five goals with four assists in the postseason … He also had two goals with an assist against Denver in the semi-finals … Midfielder Seth Goldberg had four goals in the victory while midfielder Andy Corno won 17 of 29 face-offs … Greg Downing led the Riptide with three goals and an assist.

2008 SEMIFINAL – ROCHESTER 16, PHILADELPHIA 15 (OT): Attackman Casey Powell scored the game-winning goal 45 seconds into overtime as the Rochester Rattlers defeated the two-time defending MLL champion Philadelphia Barrage 16-15 … With the win, the Rattlers claimed their first-ever playoff win for a chance at a championship title … The game also marked the first time that the Barrage had ever lost a playoff game after six wins … Midfielder Roy Colsey led the Barrage in a losing effort with three goals and three assists … Philadelphia attackman Ryan Boyle added two goals and three assists while goalkeeper Brian Dougherty made 16 saves … Joe Walters led the Rattlers in the victory with four goals and three assists as midfielder Colin Doyle added two goals and two assists.
2008 SEMIFINAL – DENVER 13, LOS ANGELES 12: Denver midfielder Jeff Sonke led the Outlaws to at 13-12 victory over the Los Angeles Riptide with the four final goals of the game including the two-point game-winner with 3:37 remaining … With the win, the Outlaws advance to the Championship game for the second time in three years … Sonke was later named Bud Light MVP ... Riptide rookie Kevin Huntley offered an strong performance in the loss with three goals while attackman Chazz Woodson tallied two goals and an assist on the day … Midfielder Ryan Powell added three goals and an assist for the Outlaws as goalkeeper Jesse Schwartzman anchored the defensive effort with 15 saves including 11 in the first half.
2008 CHAMPIONSHIP -- ROCHESTER 16, DENVER 6:Midfielder Joe Walters scored two goals and added two assists after an impressive weekend of play as the Rochester Rattlers clinched their first ever MLL title with the 16-6 victory over the Denver Outlaws … With the win, Rochester became the first city to win a lacrosse championship in three different leagues … The 2008 NB ZIP MLL Championship game also marked the first time the Rattlers faced the Outlaws in postseason play …Walters was named the Bud Light Championship Weekend MVP for his 11-point performance in the two games over the weekend… Goalie Brett Queener made 10 saves and posted an assist in the victory while three-time Warrior Offensive Player of the Year and two-time Bud Light MLL MVP John Grant Jr. added four goals and an assist on the day … Attackman Jeff Zwicki led the Rattlers in the final victory with six goals, including four in the second half when the Rattlers outscored the Outlaws 10-1.
2009 MLL CHAMPIONS: TORONTO NATIONALS
2009 SEMIFINAL -- DENVER 11, BOSTON 10: Midfielder Josh Sims was the player of the game, leading the Denver Outlaws by scoring three back to back goals in the final period of the game, giving the Outlaws a chance to pull ahead of the Cannons… Before this, the Cannons led the Outlaws throughout almost the entire game with the help of Ryan Boyle and rookie Brandon Corp contributing to an early lead of 5-2…Paul Rabil also had a goal and assist for the Cannons… The game was a close one, with goalies Kip Turner (BOS) and Jesse Schwartzman (DEN) having a combined total of forty one saves on the day (Turner with 23 and Schwartzman with 18)… Matt Alrich of the Cannons, who already had one diving goal on the game made a last minute attempt to bring the Cannons to victory, but his goal assisted by Sean Morris that put them within one point of the Outlaws was not enough, and the Outlaws moved on to the championship game.
2009 SEMIFINAL -- TORONTO 14, LONG ISLAND 13: The game between the Toronto Nationals and Long Island Lizards was a stormy one to say the least, with a 30 minute delay due to inclement weather and intense scoring…Player of the game Joe Walters began the scoring for the Nationals and ended the game with three goals… Geoff Snider also helped his team by winning each face off for Toronto in the first quarter and going 17 for 30 the entire game…The final minutes of the first half were powerful with the score at 6-2 with Long Island in the lead… Toronto rookie Brad Ross hit a two point sniper to help his team reach within one point of the Lizards...The half ended with Long Island still up 9-6 with Sean Lindsey, Matt Nash, and Keith Cromwell scoring on Doc Schneider who played the whole game for the Nationals…The second half went back and forth between the two teams, but the deciding factor occurred when a shot from Toronto’s Merrick Thomson went off the stick of Long Island goalie Brian Dougherty and into the goal, making the score 14-13, and leading the Nationals to face the Outlaws in the championship game.
2009 CHAMPIONSHIP -- TORONTO 10, DENVER 9: Being the newest team in the league, the Toronto Nationals proved themselves by defeating the favored Denver Outlaws in an exhilarating championship game…Other than a four goal streak by Denver early on in the game, the scoring between the two teams was very close knit…Nick O’Hara began the scoring for the nationals within the first minute of the game, with Outlaw’s Josh Sims answering back with a goal of his own…John Grant Jr. had an outstanding behind the back shot that once again put the Nationals in the lead…The teams continued to prove their resilience by picking up a combined twenty ground balls in just the first quarter…The first half ended with a score of 5-4, but the real excitement began when Nationals star goalie Brett Queener, who leads the league in save percentages, returned for his first appearance of the weekend after breaking his hand during warm ups for the semi final game…Queener finished off the game with 11 saves, rookie goalie Doc Schneider who played in the first half had 12 saves…Bud Light MVP Merrick Thomson began the second half by scoring for the Nationals, only to have his goal answered by Jeff Snoke and Mike Ward of the Outlaws scoring a goal apiece… After leaving the game for a minor knee injury, John Grant Jr. returned and scored the first goal of the last quarter for the Nationals which tied the game again... The back and forth action continued with Josh Sims scoring again for the Outlaws and Shawn Williams making it a tie game again for the Nationals with a goal of his own…With 45 seconds to play and the intensity at an all time high, Williams scored his second goal of the game, leading the Nationals to win their first championship to go along with their first season of play.
